Srinagar

Hurriyt (M) leader and Freedom party chairman, Shabir Ahmad Shah who was undergoing detention in central jail Srinagar was Friday slapped Public Safety Act (PSA) and shifted to Kot Balwal jail Jammu.

Wife of Shah, Dr Bilques informed Kashmir Life that he was shifted from central jail Srinagar to Kot Balwal Jammu under Public Safety Act.

“I fail to understand why Shah Sahab has been shifted to a far off jail against the supreme court ruling,” said Bilques adding “He (Shah) was already in the jail shifting of him is shocking obviously under PSA which is a clear indication that they (government) has some evil designs about him”.

Shabir Shah

Shabir Shah was arrested during the intervening night of February 8 and 9, just before Afzal Guru was hanged in Tihar jail Delhi.

Shah 52 has so far spent more than 25 years in different jails of Jammu and Kashmir and India. He is known as “The Nelson Mandela of Kashmir”.

Shah is among the dozens of separatist leaders and activists who were arrested in the wake of Afzal Guru hanging. Presently there are dozens of leaders languishing in central jail Srinagar who were arrested after the hanging of Afzal.

They include Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, Nayeem Ahmad Khan of National Front and Ayaz Akbar of Tehreek-e-hurriyat.

A spokesman of DFP has condemned the shifting of Shah to Kot Balwal Jammu. Calling it as an act of “political revenge” the spokesman said that such acts will never ever affect the will of Shah.
