Workers of the J&K State Public Sector Employees Federation Tuesday launched a massive protest march outside press colony, Lal Chowk demanding the government to release the pending salaries of Public Sector Unit’s (PSU’s).

The federation issued a joint statement appealing the government to address their grievances. “…in case failure on the part of Govt to address these issues, the struggle started will be intensified under the ambit of Labour Laws and Govt shall be held responsible for the consequence,” the handout read.

The protesters demanded the formulation of policy for the revival of all PSU’s of the state including J&K Industries, JK Cements, J&K Handloom Development Corporation, HPMC, Argo Indus and Art Emporium.

They also appealed for introduction of revised gratuity, pension scheme, regularization of wage policy for temporary PSU employees among host of other demands.

The protesters shouted angry slogans against the government. Police personnel surrounded the Pratap Park where the protests begun. The demonstrations were going on when this report was filed
