In connection with intensified Plus Polio Immunization Programme (IPPIP) Phase-I scheduled to be held on January 29,   the arrangements were finalized at Islamabad and Bandipora.

At Islamabad, meeting of District Task Force was held under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioners, who is also the chairman of District Health Society.

The meeting among others was attended CMO, Deputy CMO, District Immunization officer & other member of the Committee.

The Deputy CMO, informed the meeting that about 135734 children in the age group of 0-5 years shall be covered in the District under IPP programme for which 624 vaccine booths are being set up. While as 2621 workers shall be deployed for smooth conduct of the programme.

The DDC emphasized upon the members of the committee to gear-up the men & machinery & ensure that all arrangements are put in advance.

At Budgam, District Development Commissioner Mir Altaf Ahmad chaired a meeting of District Task Force to review the arrangements for Pulse Polio programme.

The Development Commissioner stressed upon the officers of Health Department, ICDS, Social Welfare, Education Departments to put in coordinated efforts to make Budgam polio free district. He stressed for organizing special awareness campaign by involving NGO’s for generating maximum awareness among the people regarding the immunization process

During the meeting Chief Medical Officer, informed that as many as 612 vaccination booths would be setup in different parts of the district to cover about 101916 children of 0-5 years under vaccination programme. He also informed that 2252 personnel comprising Health Workers, ASHAs, AWWs will be deployed for the smooth conduct of the immunization programme in the district.

Similarly, at Baramulla meeting of District Task Force (DTF) was held under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner, Dr Nassir Ahmad Naqash.

During the meeting, it was given out that as many as 154879 children below the age of 5 years of the district will be immunized on January 29 in Baramulla under the first Phase of the Pulse Polio Immunization Program for which 776 Vaccination booths have been set up in ten blocks of the district.

It was also informed that 786 teams comprising 3259 members including Health workers, ASHA workers, ICDS workers and teachers shall be deployed for the smooth conduct of the anti polio immunization. Besides, Transit Camps for railway stations, Bus Addas and mobile teams have also been constituted for purpose. It was also informed that Masjid Committees will be involved for the purpose of announcements regarding the pulse polio campaign.

The DDC stressed the concerned for better coordination and cooperation, to ensure effective Pulse Polio programme in the district.
