To review the preparedness for implementation of pulse polio programme in the Kulgam district, which will commence on January 17, a meeting of Health Society Kulgam was held under the Chairmanship of District Development Commissioner Kulgam, Syed Abid Rashid Shah in Kulgam on Wednesday.
The meeting was attended by CMO, Chief Education Officer, Programme officer ICDS, Executive Engineer R&B, ARTO, all block medical officers and medical superintendents of the district, an official spokesperson said this evening.
For the successful implementation of the pulse polio immunization programme in the district, 505 Polio booths and 12 transit points have been established besides, 2126 health workers; 1063 vaccinators; 650 ASHA workers and 449 Anganwadi workers have been deployed.
The DDC stressed for a close collaboration between Health, Education, ICDS, CDPOs and Municipal Committee Kulgam. He directed CDPOs to supervise and inspect the polio booths.
The DDC also reviewed the physical and financial achievements made by the health department in 2015-16 in Kulgam district. He was informed that 313 village health and sanitation committees have been put in place which is mandated for sensitizing the people about better healthcare.
He was further informed that an amount of Rs 26.4 lakh has been utilized in the district under JSY, Rs 44.9 lakh under JSSK and Rs 115 lakh under family planning besides Rs 18.47 lakh under RBSK schemes have been spend till date.
Under immunization an amount of Rs 12.43 lakh has been utilized in the district and 2670 institutional deliveries have been conducted. Under RBFK two teams in each block have been constituted to ensure free medical check-up of children up to 18 years to ascertain any life threatening diseases or any disability, which could be identified and recommended for proper medicare. In this regard DDC directed CMO Kulgam to conduct a workshop to aware the general public about the benefits of the scheme.
