In response to Geelani’s shutdown call, people in south Kashmir observed a partial shutdown while Pulwama went to business as usual on Thursday to protest the killing of a civilian in Pulwama district yesterday.
Parvaiz Ahmad Guroo was killed after forces fired at a group of youth protesting against the killing of a Hizb militant Shariq Ahmad during a gunfight at Naina Batpora village yesterday.
Geelani had appealed for a shutdown in south Kashmir to protest what he termed as the “worst form of state terrorism”.
However, locals said that the call should have been pan Kashmir and not restricted to south Kashmir only.
