Police on Tuesday said that the exchange of fire between militants and forces has stopped in Hakripora Pulwama.

“The firing has stopped and search operation is on to retrieve the bodies of the militants from the debris,” IGP Kashmir told a newspaper.

Reports from the encounter site said that forces have blasted two houses where the militants were suspected to be trapped.

Meanwhile, several people have sustained injuries during the clashes that ensued after the news about the presence of Abu Dujana in the encounter site spread in the neighbouring villages.

Earlier, acting on specific input, joint cordon and search operations (CASO) was launched by 182 Battalion, 183 Battalion, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), 55 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Special Operations Group (SOG) at 4: 30 a.m. on Tuesday morning in Hakripora village.
