Four militants killed in a gunfight with the government forces in Hanjan village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday have been identified.

The slain militants were identified as Muzamil Nabi Dar of Rohmoo, Muzamil Nazir Bhat of Prichoo, Waseem Akram Wani of Tikken and a non-local Haris.

He said the slain were killed in an encounter with government forces in Hanjan village of Pulwama district.

The gunfight broke out early morning following a search operation launched by the forces.

The official said as the forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants opened fire, triggering a gunfight.

Several civilians were injured in clashes with the government forces near the site of the gunfight.
