Pulwama parts shut to mourn militant killings


A complete shutdown was being observed in parts of Pulwama district in south Kashmir on a third consecutive day to mourn the killing of four militants killed during an encounter with government forces.

An eyewitness said that all the shops and other business establishments were closed in most of the areas in the district and a thin movement of traffic was seen on the roads.

Earlier, four militants affiliated with JeM outfit were killed in an encounter with government forces in Hanjan Rajpora area of the district.

Reports said that people from various areas of the district are visiting the residences of slain militants to offer condolences.
