SRINAGAR: Pulwama Police arrested three individuals involved in drug peddling and recovered significant quantities of contraband substances during separate operations in the district.
Acting on specific intelligence, a team from Police Station Kakapora raided two residential houses in Kisrigam Kakapora. At the residence of Bilal Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Nabi Dar, authorities recovered 10.7 kilograms of grinded charas powder. A similar search at the residence of Irshad Ahmad Mantoo, son of Ghulam Nabi Mantoo, resulted in the seizure of 7.8 kilograms of grinded charas powder.
In a separate operation, officers from Police Station Litter intercepted a suspicious individual near a petrol pump during routine naka (checkpoint) checking. Upon searching him, police recovered 200 grams of charas-like substance. The suspect was identified as Mehraj-u-din Shah, son of Ghulam Hassan Shah, a resident of Chari Sharief in Budgam.
All three suspects have been arrested and transferred to the respective police stations. Police have registered cases under relevant sections of law, and investigations are underway.
The police have urged the public to cooperate in combating the drug menace and report any instances of drug trafficking or related crimes by contacting the nearest police station or dialling 112.
“We assure the community that stringent action will be taken against those involved in drug-related offences,” a police spokesperson stated.
