SRINAGAR: A Punjab resident who was in jail in a drug smuggling case was found hanging in his cell in a Jammu jail, reports said. Authorities have started investigations into the incident.

Identified as Rajinder Singh, 42, a resident of Fazilka village was arrested in Jammu and Kashmir and was in Kathua jail since November 7, 2019. He had been detained under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. He was facing trial.

Singh’s body was found hanging inside a bathroom around 2.15 am, last night. Immediately, he was pronounced dead.

Early this morning, authorities started investigations and post-mortem process at the Government Medical College, Jammu. After the process is over, his body will be handed over to the next of the kin.
