Srinagar

Senior CPI (m) leader and former MLA Kulgam Mohammad Yousuf on Tuesday asked the Governor Administration to clear confusion over the government orders which have deepened uncertainty in Kashmir in the last few days.

Tarigami in a statement said that Governor Malik needs to clarify whether it is a rumour that 100 companies of additional companies of paramilitary forces are being deployed in Kashmir? One of his Advisor is saying “the deployment was a deliberate and calculated response to the need of security grid,” while the Governor says the ‘government’ orders being circulated on social media in Kashmir from past few days were invalid.

“Is it only a rumour, that another order directing police in Srinagar to collect details of management committees of masjids, has been issued? And are such other orders issued in the recent days also rumours? The government needs to clear this confusion. If they claim one of the orders has been issued to take masjid committees into confidence to check the drug menace, is the menace limited to Srinagar only and why this urgency now? If the government wants to check drug abuse, they should have also taken civil society members into confidence,” said Tarigami.

“For what purpose these exercises are being done, people want to know. If the government claims that militancy, stone-pelting and violence is decreasing, for what purpose additional troops are being deployed in Kashmir? For what purpose this ground test is being done,” he said.

“People are already in distress and stress due to ongoing violence. There was a need for confidence-building-measures to come out of this cycle of disillusionment and depression. Why this shock therapy time-and-again? Enough is enough. Please put a stop to such manoeuvres,” Tarigami in a statement said.
