Rebuffing the claims made by writer Shabnum Qayoom in his recent book “Phansi” (gallows) with regards to Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front leaders, Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah has urged the writer to correct his statements instantly.
“Shabnam Qayoom has made wrong statements with regards to JKLF leaders Abdul Hamid Bhat and Reyaz Ahmad Dar on page 141 and 142 of his book,” Shah in a statement issued to Global News Service said, adding that he (Qayoom) should put facts accurately and correct them without any delay.
Recalling his acquaintance with JKLF leaders Shah said that in 1975 when he was released from jail he met Shaheed Maqbool Bhat in 1976 in Jail where the said JKLF leaders Abdul Hamid Bhat and Reyaz Ahmad Dar were also present. “Both these leaders have tolerated severe hardships in Srinagar and Jammu Central Jails and are still associated with the freedom movement,” DFP Chairman said, adding that he even talks to them on phone at times.
