Qaimoh area of south-Kashmir’s Kulgam district remained shut on Wednesday, as the families of two militants alleged that forces had entered their houses in night, vandalized their belongings, broke the window panes and ransacked their house.

The families of the Tawseef Ahmad and Ab Majid Zargar – LeT militants – alleged that around 11pm late Tuesday night, forces came and started searching our house.

“The forces terrorized us and broke window panes; they even broke windows of our cars. The children and women in house were terrorized. They even hid themselves in bathroom,” said one of the family members of Tawseef.

On Tuesday evening, militants had allegedly opened fire on police in Qaimoh and fled from the spot. No one was hurt in the attack.

The families of the militants alleged regular harassment at the hands of forces.

“We are harassed regularly. We are not militants. This is battle between forces and militants, why are we being harassed. This is a tactic to build mental pressure among our kids and lady folk,” said one of the members of ‘victim’ families.

Locals of Qaimoh said, “if such kind of harassment with the families of militants continues we will react strongly.”
