An emergent session of Jammu & Kashmir Teachers forum was convened under the chairmanship of president of employees’ Joint action committee-cum-chairperson teachers’ forum, Ab Qayoom Wani.
All the leaders present in the meeting expressed their concern over the issues of teachers and expressed their anguish that “wholesale transfers have been started in Kashmir Division and winter Zone of Jammu and officers at the helm of affairs have thrown their own made transfer policy to dogs”.
“This has caused deep anxiety and embracement to teachers and students. On one side the authorities in education department had given much publicity that transfers would be made during winters but proved in hoax instead start making transfers at beginning of academic session on whole sale basis which is still going on. Strange to note that one day transfers are made and on the other day the same are modified to suit their interests,” a statement issued by the forum said.
“Teachers forum has come to know that in some Districts four persons have been ordered on one post which has exposed the transparency and clear cut transfer policy of the Department. In some Districts the concerned District Development Commissioners have been told to make transfers and during these transfers no consideration has been mad for subject specific teachers and teacher student ratio needs. Despite publicity for making rationalization on ground things are quite different and blue eyed and political backed teachers have not been transferred which has exposed the tall claims of those who pose themselves as well wishers of teachers and students,” it said.
The teachers group urged Governor and chief secretary to constitute a high level enquiry committee to probe into these transfers and practice be got stopped. “Officers who are busy in getting themselves praised in social media need to have an introspection of their own. It was decided in the session that all the short comings and frauds committed in the education department shall be exposed before the media by the president EJAC/Chairperson JKTF Ab Qayoom Wani in a press conference which will convened very soon so that general public and parents may not remain in dark.”
Wani appealed all the teachers to take the Department to Zenith in providing quality education to students and strengthen the teacher thought relationship to boost the learning and deliver moral lessons during morning assemblies.
He advised all the leaders and delegates to strengthen the trade union moment and scuttle the nefarious designs all those who are hell bent to weaken the trade union movement.
“A delegate conference shall be held very soon in Srinagar where in the teachers’ issues shall be highlighted and the strategy shall be devised to deal with the conspiracies being hatched against the trade union moment which will be summarized in the press conference,” he said. (KNS)
