SRINAGAR: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday called on the administration to address the recruitment concerns of agriculture graduates who have been staging a peaceful protest for 27 days.
Mufti urged the government to review SRO-433 and SRO-442, which govern the Agriculture Extension Officer (AEO) and Junior Agriculture Extension Officer (JAEO) cadres, saying the prolonged agitation reflected growing frustration among qualified youth.
In a post on X, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president said educated professionals should not be forced to protest to seek fair recruitment opportunities.
She said years of education and professional preparation should translate into employment prospects rather than uncertainty, adding that young people deserved dignity and a fair chance to serve Jammu and Kashmir.
Mufti said reviewing the two SROs was necessary to address the underlying concerns of the protesting agriculture graduates.
