SRINAGAR: Grand Mufti of Jammu and Kashmir, Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam, said that the moon marking the commencement of the Islamic month of Rabi-ul-Awwal, the third month in the lunar calendar, was not sighted in any part of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday night.
Consequently, September 18 (Monday) will mark the beginning of Rabi-ul-Awwal, while Eid-e-Milad un Nabi (SAW) is scheduled for September 29.
Nasir affirmed that no reports of the sighting of the Rabi ul Awwal crescent had been received from any region of Jammu and Kashmir as of September 16.
“The sacred month of Rabi-ul-Awwal will officially commence on September 18,” he stated.
He further noted, “Eid Milad-un-Nabi will be observed on September 29, 2023 (Friday).”
