In a subtle event held at eminent poet, writer and critic’s home at Nowshera, Radio Kashmir honoured Ghulam Nabi Firaq.  His three new books Kher-ul-Bashar, Ravan Teol, Kashir-e-Watchnuk Safar, were also released on the event.

The function was attended by a host of dignitaries like Ghulam Nabi Khayaal, Ayaz Rasool Nazki (regional director Indian council for cultural relations), Bashir Arif (D.D.G Radio Kashmir),Qayoom Wadera ( D.D.G Doordarshan), Proffesor Rattan Talashi  and a number of people from various walks of life.

While speaking on firaq’s work and life, the dignitaries praised the poet’s art of writing and his humble way of living. The poet has also translated dozens of English poems of outstanding English poets into Kashmiri language, as a result of which he has enriched the expression of language and making it more understandable.

Host of the function Satish Vimal said, “Radio Kashmir has started an initiative with the name “Mulaqaat” where we felicitate and revisit renowned artists, poets and writers, to keep the works of such artists alive in our memories and give them the much needed love and respect.”

Satish Vimal along with Ghulam Nabi Khayaal and others presented Firaq with a shawl and did the traditional ‘dastaar poshi’ as well.
