Three Lashkar-e-Toiba militants were killed in an encounter with police and army at forest area of Rafiabad in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. A Pakistan militant was also arrested following the gunbattle that started in the forest area on Tuesday night.
As already reported, police and army’s 46 RR along with the additional reinforcement of 17 Jak Rif, 4 PARA, 35 RR had intercepted the group of militants after it fled from Bijhama Uri while one of their associate was killed in the area on Wednesday.
Four others had escaped from the spot but were later intercepted by the joint team of army’s 32 RR, 9 PARA and SOG in the woods of Rafiabad after about two days, three members of the group were killed while one of them have been arrested alive after the gunfight, a senior police official said.
The official identified the militant caught alive as Sajad alias Abu Abaidullah, a resident of Balochistan, Pakistan.
He said that the identities of the slain are being ascertained. While the gunfight ended, he said, search operation is still going in the area.
