Rafiabad Murder

Police solved a blind murder case within 24 hours of the occurrence.

On 12th of December 2015, some unknown persons killed Ghulam Mohammad Tantray when he was returning home from his routine work in late evening, a police statement said Monday evening.

Sopore police registered a case in this regard and constituted a special investigation team (SIT) under the supervision of SSP Sopore Abdul Qayoom headed by SDPO Rafiabad Shabir Ahmad and SHO Police Station Dangiwacha.

The investigation team picked two suspected youth: Khurshid Ahmad Malla son of Bashir Ahmad Malla and Zahid Ahmad Katroo son of Mushtaq Ahmad Katroo, both residents of Ambarpora Tarzoo, Sopore.

The duo was questioned and during questioning it come to fore that the family of the Khurshid Ahmad Malla was interested in marriage with the family member of deceased, which was not accepted by the deceased and this frustrated Khurshid Ahmad.

On 12th of this month in the evening, Khurshid along with his friend Zahid Ahmad hatched a conspiracy to eliminate the said deceased.

In the evening hours, when the deceased (Ghulam Mohammad) was about to enter his house, Khurshid attacked with a sharp edged weapon on his neck, while Zahid was assisting him. Both the attackers fled the spot after locals raised hue and cry. Ghulam Mohammad breathed his last while he was being shifted to hospital.

The weapon of the offence was seized from the scene of occurrence and its preliminary investigation reveals that it was a planned murder.

A case FIR number 67/2015 under section 302 RPC was registered in Police Station Dangiwacha, Sopore in this regard.
