SRINAGAR: The Ministry of Railways has approved an experimental stoppage of the Jammu Tawi-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express at Anantnag railway station, a move expected to improve direct rail connectivity for passengers in south Kashmir.
According to a Railway Board order, train numbers 26401/26402 Jammu Tawi-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express will stop at Anantnag from an early convenient date, subject to the required security clearance.
The Railway Board has directed Northern Railway to closely monitor ticket sales at Anantnag for a subsequent review of the halt. It has also asked the zone to publicise the new stoppage widely and ensure compliance with the directions.
The experimental halt will provide passengers from Anantnag and adjoining areas with direct access to the Vande Bharat service connecting Jammu and Srinagar.
