Rain, Gusty Winds Expected in Next 4–6 Hours Across JK: MeT Advisory

   

SRINAGAR: The Meteorological Department on Wednesday forecast light to moderate rain and thundershowers in parts of Jammu and Kashmir over the next 4 to 6 hours.

In its latest advisory, the department said that several areas in the Kashmir division and hilly parts of Jammu may witness intense rainfall, with a possibility of landslides and mudslides in vulnerable locations.

The advisory said that generally cloudy conditions with spells of rain or thundershowers are likely in Kupwara, Baramulla, Bandipora, Ganderbal, Srinagar, Budgam, parts of South Kashmir, Poonch, the Pir Panjal Range, the Chenab Valley, and some plains of Jammu during the next few hours.

It further warned that parts of Kupwara, Handwara, Baramulla, Gulmarg, Uri, hilly areas of Bandipora and Budgam, several areas in Ganderbal and Srinagar, parts of South Kashmir and Poonch, and other hilly regions of Jammu may experience intense showers accompanied by gusty winds reaching 50–60 km/h in the next 2 to 3 hours.

The department has advised people to suspend shikara rides and boating in Dal Lake, Wular Lake, and other water bodies during this period.
