Rajnath Singh to Inaugurate Shyok Tunnel, Other Ladakh Projects on Dec 7

   

SRINAGAR: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will inaugurate several infrastructure and connectivity projects across different States and Union Territories, including Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh, on December 7, with the main event scheduled at Shyok in Leh district of the Union Territory of Ladakh, officials said.

Top officials said that, Defence Minister will physically inaugurate the strategically significant Shyok Tunnel project from Shyok in Leh district. Simultaneously, he will virtually inaugurate multiple other projects located in various States and Union Territories, aimed at strengthening connectivity in forward and remote areas, they said.

Officials said the projects are expected to significantly improve all-weather connectivity not only to forward military posts but also to remote villages, enhancing mobility, logistics, and socio-economic development in border regions.

During his visit, Rajnath Singh will also review the security situation in Eastern Ladakh along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China. He is scheduled to hold detailed discussions with senior Army officers on the prevailing ground situation and overall preparedness.

The visit comes amid continued focus on strengthening border infrastructure and enhancing operational readiness in sensitive frontier areas.
