In the case of beating a cop, two BJP men have been booked by JK Police.

Reports reaching here said that a dozen people, including two BJP functionaries, were booked on charges of attempting to incite communal violence in Rajouri town of Jammu region.

The BJP men have been identified as Atam Prakash, a BJP district general secretary, and Vikrant Sharma, a government teacher who doubles as public relations officer of BJP politician and vice-chairperson of State Advisory Board for Development of Pahari Speaking People Kuldip Raj Gupta.

“Prakash is the administrator of a social networking group on which Sharma had posted an image of Hindu god Shiva superimposed over the picture of Kaaba on September 14,” said a report. “Prakash is absconding, Sharma has been questioned without being taken into custody.”

Rajouri observed two days shutdown for the past two days after a policeman, who was transporting his buffalo, was assaulted by a Hindu mob that suspected the cop was taking a cow for slaughter.
