SRINAGAR: Fresh firing has resumed in an ongoing encounter at the Kalakote area in Rajouri, a day after four army personnel, including two officers, were killed and two others were injured, officials said.

An official told Kashmir Scroll that fresh contact was established this morning, following which intense exchange of gunfire is being witnessed.

“More security columns have been moved to the site even as helicopters also pressed into service to locate the trapped militants to neutralize them at an earliest”, the official said.

It is pertinent to mention here that four army personnel, including two officers, were killed on Wednesday while fighting the militants, believed to be two in number.

In a post on X, the White Knight Corps of the Army said based on specific intelligence, joint operations were launched in Kalakote area of Gulabgarh forest in Rajouri on Sunday.
“Contact established on 22 November and intense firefight ensued. The militants have been injured and surrounded and operations are in progress, amidst acts of valour and sacrifice by own brave hearts in trying to prevent collateral damage to women and children in the highest traditions of Indian Army,” it said.
