SRINAGAR: With yet another injured civilian succumbing to his injuries at the Government Medical College Jammu hospital, the death toll in the Dangri killing has gone up to seven. The deceased was identified as Prince Sharma.
Already six civilians including two children were killed in the twin attacks that took place in the new year within a gap of nearly 12 hours. A number of civilians were injured in the twin incidents of target killing.
Prince’s elder brother Deepak Kumar had died in the initial incident of targeted killing in the Rajouri village.
The security grid is busy with a massive search and combing operation in the area. They have already revived the VDC network and distributed weapons to them.
Reports appearing in the media said they have rounded up as many as 18 suspects as part of the investigations. These include a woman who has been detained for investigations. It is alleged that some of the assailants who were behind the killings have stayed at her home. Reports suggest that the police have indicated that they are establishing the presence of the killer group in the area for many days.
While the investigations are going, there are almost 12 villages where cordon and search operation. Some of these villages are Dhangri, Potha, Saranu, Kandi, Miyani, Muradpur, Nagrota, Pidi, and Daraj Samote.
