SRINAGAR: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National General Secretary Ram Madhav on Wednesday said his party wants developmental activities in Jammu and Kashmir and actions against the militants will continue.

Madhav, while addressing a press conference in Srinagar said the regional parties do not understand what the people in Kashmir want. He said his party wants Kashmir to be a democratic place but the regional parties do not understand.  “They are actually repeating the things they did earlier for their own interests,” he said.

Questioning the two main regional parties NC and PDP, Madhav said if they boycotted the earlier Municipal and Urban Local Bodies (ULB) elections citing the 35 (A) reason, why are they not contesting the Lok Sabha election. “The only reason behind it is they don’t want peace and development in the state,” he said.

Lashing out at NC, PDP, Madhav said both the parties are looking for their families in order to perpetuate the dynastic rule. They don’t care about the people but PM Modi did. “We want elections to be held in the state because we want development. By not supporting the elections in the state the regional parties are snatching the rights of development from the people,” Madhav said.

Reacting to a recent statement by NC leader Mohammad Akbar Lone, Madhav sought an FIR and action against the leader for “provoking” the people of India. “By raising slogans in favour of Pakistan and calling the party workers “Mujahideen,” the leader is provoking the people. The same “Mujahideen” who brutally killed a 12-year old boy in Hajin and tried to rape the young women in the state,” Madhav said. “This is the character two main regional parties are owning,” he added.

Madhav added that regional parties are cut-off from the sentiments of the Kashmiris, they never understood what actually people of the state want. They want peace, development, and electoral rights.

Commenting on the ban on Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) and Jama’at-e-Islami (JeI) Madhav said that the reason behind the ban on separatism in Kashmir is that government wants peace in the valley and now the state is in peace. “But as the regional parties are looking for the revocation of the ban, they actually want an atmosphere to get polluted again.”

The ban on separatism and anti-militancy operations will remain constant to restore the peaceful atmosphere of the valley.

Appealing the people to vote the way they did it in ULB and Panchayat polls, Madhav said; “vote only those who can restore the peace, not those who label their workers as Mujahideen and develop the separatism in the valley.”

Lashing out the regional parties for perpetuating dynastic rule in the state, the BJP leader, who is also a point-man of J&K affairs, said that his party has provided the tickets to those who have grown up in the party with lots of experience. Hinting towards the cinematographer Tasduq Mufti who earlier joined PDP and was serving as tourism minister till BJP broke its coalition with PDP, he said; it’s not like somebody was working somewhere in the film industry and suddenly becomes a politician, only because he belongs to a politicians family.
