BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav on Monday visited the annual function of Mela Kheer Bhawani at Tulmulla in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

The function was celebrated by Kashmiri Pandits with religious fervour. The temple witnessed a large number of devotees from different parts of the state and the numbers were much higher than of the previous years.

Reports said that Ram Madhav was among the other political leaders who visited the temple today. He is reportedly flying back to Delhi after the function concludes.

Besides Madhav, NC’s Farooq Abdullah and G A Mir of Congress also p0resent on the occasion. An official said that thousands of devotees have reached  Tul Mulla from across India to celebrate the yearly festival in the Tul Mulla temple.

The government has been investing a lot of effort to make it a huge success by helping the migrant Pandits to reach Srinagar and spend a week in Kashmir. This, apparently, is aimed at helping the migrants to feel the pulse of Kashmir and consider their return. Today special arrangements were put on forth for the proper measures. The arrivals of the devotees from last week but the main prayers were slated today.

Earlier, Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik also visited the Kheer Bhawani shrine to take part in the Mela. Malik earlier observed that this Festival is a shining example of communal harmony and brotherhood, which have been the hallmarks of the glorious pluralistic ethos of Jammu and Kashmir in the centuries past.
