SRINAGAR:  District Administration, Ramban today launched a joint rescue operation with the police and locals to evacuate persons missing in a tragic road accident here at Digdole.

After receiving information of the accident, Senior Superintendent of Police, Ramban PD Nitya Additional Deputy Commissioner, Harban Sharma and other senior officers of Police and civil administration along with Police, CRPF, QRT and SDRF teams rushed to the spot and started the rescue operation.

As reported by police, a sumo vehicle bearing registration number JK03 A 6391 carrying 14 people including three children, while coming from Jammu to Banihal, fell into a deep gorge at Samadhi Morh, Digdole, Ramban. Two people lost their lives in the accident, while 12 others including the driver sustained injuries.

Four injured persons are under treatment in District Hospital Ramban whereas eight have been shifted to Government Medical College, Jammu for specialized treatment.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner directed the hospital administration to extend best-possible treatment to those injured in the accident and provide specialized treatment to those injured.
