Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi has invited Kashmiri resistance leaders to break their fast on 25th June.

The Commission has sent separate invitations to all major separatist groups, including factions of Hurriyat Conference and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front.

Speaking to Kashmir Life, Hurriyat Conference (g) spokesperson, Ayaz Akbar confirmed that the amalgam has received invitation to attend the Iftaar party. “A representative group of the faction will be attending the Iftaar party,” he said, however, he said the matter was yet to be decided as who will be flying to Union capital.

Akbar asserted that it was a “routine religious event which has nothing to do with politics”.

When Kashmir Life tried to know more details about response to the invitation from Hurriyat patriarch Syed Ali Geelani’s personal secretary Pir Saifullah, he said that he is under arrest since Tuesday Sehri.

Shabir Ahmad Shah who is secretary general (I) of Hurriyat Conference led by Syed Ali Geelani has received a separate invitation.

“We have received a separate invitation,” a spokesperson of Democratic Freedom Party (DPF) told Kashmir Life.

He added that since Shabir Shah is under house arrest the DFP has decided to send two-member delegation including Advocate Fayaz Sodagar and Engineer Farooq.  “They will be flying to New Delhi on 25th June in first flight from Srinagar,” he said.

Hurriyat Conference (m) spokesperson Advocate Shahid ul Islam, who confirmed that they have received the invitation, revealed the names of members of the group who will be flying to New Delhi to attend the Iftaar party.

The delegation of Hurriyat Conference (m) includes faction chairperson Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Prof Abdul Gani Bhat, Maulana Abbas Ansari and Advocate Shahid ul Islam.

Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front spokesperson told Kashmir Life that the invitation from Pakistan High Commission “was on way”.

He said that usually JKLF chief Mohammad Yasin Malik attends the Iftaar party. “Since he is under arrest, we are yet to decide who will be attending the event.”
