SRINAGAR: Defending champions Jammu and Kashmir will take on Pondicherry in their next Ranji Trophy 2026–27 Elite Group A fixture at the Sher-i-Kashmir Cricket Stadium in Srinagar from November 2 to 5.
The four-day encounter will begin at 9.30 am, with J&K looking to strengthen their campaign after an inconsistent start to the season.
Jammu and Kashmir have played three matches in the competition so far, recording two draws and one defeat. Their only loss came against Vidarbha, who secured a three-wicket victory in their second fixture.
J&K opened their campaign against Madhya Pradesh in Srinagar from October 11 to 14. After being bowled out for 120 in their first innings, they faced a target of 326 and reached 88 for seven before the match ended in a draw.
In their second outing, also at the Sher-i-Kashmir Cricket Stadium, J&K suffered a three-wicket defeat against Vidarbha from October 18 to 20. J&K scored 260 in their first innings before being dismissed for 123 in the second, leaving Vidarbha with a target of 79. The opposition eventually reached 81 for seven despite a determined effort from J&K’s bowlers.
Their most recent match against Baroda ended in a draw at the Reliance Cricket Ground in Vadodara from October 26 to 29.
After Baroda piled up 616 in their first innings, J&K responded with 303 and were forced to follow on. They showed considerable resilience in their second innings, scoring 316 for six, with Abdul Samad leading the effort with an unbeaten 143 to secure a draw.
J&K had also featured in the season-opening Irani Cup against Rest of India in Srinagar from October 1 to 5, losing the match by 167 runs.
The defending champions will now look to produce a strong performance against Pondicherry on home turf.
