SRINAGAR: Police in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch are has announced the apprehension of a rape suspect who had been on the run for 43 years.
The accused, identified as Abdul Khaliq, son of Allah Ditta, hailing from Dhargloon Mendhar in the Poonch district, had been evading arrest since he was wanted in a case filed under FIR No 109/1979, under sections 376, 341, and 382 of the RPC, as per the records of the Mendhar Police Station.
According to the police, “A case had been registered at the Mendhar Police Station, and a general warrant of arrest under section 512 of the CrPC was issued by the Session Court Poonch on 19/09/1992.”
Acting on credible information regarding the presence of the accused, the Poonch Police conducted a targeted operation, resulting in his arrest. The apprehended suspect will now face legal proceedings in the court.
