Four people were injured on Thursday after they were bitten by a rabid dog in Kangan area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

The four persons who sustained injuries are Shameema Begim, wife of  Noor Mohd Gursi, Masrat Bano, daughter of  Abdul Rasheed Mir, Saleema Begum, wife of Mushtaq Ahmed Raina and Abdul Rasheed Sheikh son of Ghulam Mohammad, all residents of Wangath Kanagan.

Soon after the incident, all the four injured persons were shifted to Sub District Hospital Kangan for treatment. Local sources said that the rabid dog is roaming in the said area have created fear among the people.

Earlier, at least twenty-eight people were attacked and injured by stray dogs in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, after a pack of stray dogs appeared in Kantbagh area and attacked scores of people. In the incident, twenty-eight persons were injured.
