Asking government to take stern action against the local administration of Kathua, where RSS goons opened fire on innocent Muslims thereby injuring several of them, Incumbent Langate lawmaker Friday said the government should ensure the safety of the Muslims of Jammu region.

Rasheed was addressing a gathering at Talab Khatyan Jammu today after Friday prayers.

Rasheed also reiterated his demand to hold plebiscite on both sides of LoC and said, “We don’t seek plebiscite on communal lines but want the promise made by India and Pakistan with people of J&K at United Nations to be fulfilled.”

On the occasion people chanted slogans in favour of communal harmony, against atrocities on Muslims in Jammu and seeking plebiscite, reads a statement issued by Rasheed.

Rasheed while appealing for communal harmony said, “We offer sincere cooperation to people of Jammu province for maintaining communal harmony and finding an everlasting solution to political dispute. If the issue is resolved the people of state will prosper and it would be in the long interests of people of India and Pakistan as well. Let all of us understand the urgency of resolving dispute and force India and Pakistan to hold plebiscite on both sides of LOC, as we can’t compromise on our huge sacrifices offered for resolution of dispute,” Rasheed said.

He appealed regional the political parties not to become “stooges” of New Delhi.

Rasheed lashed out at govt for not disbanding the so-called village Defence Committees and sought a credible probe in to the atrocities committed by these “so-called” VDC’s.

He accused the police and civil administration of depriving and harassing Muslims from Kishtwar to Rajouri.
