The chief of Awami Ittehad Party and sitting Langate lawmaker Er Rasheed on Tuesday paid Rs 2 lacs and fifty thousands to those whose property was damaged in a devastating fire in Haril village of Handwara.

In the tragic and devastating incident nearly twelve structures including residential houses were destroyed in Haril Langate.

While half a dozen fire extinguishers were on the job to doused the flames, Rasheed supervised the operations. “Hundreds of locals did commendable job in controlling the fire. In the incident more than twenty thousand fruit boxes also got badly damaged. Er Rasheed announced an immediate relief of 2.5 Lacs from Joint Effort Trust (JET) in favour of victims and also promised to do whatever possible to rehabilitate the families,” a statement of AIP said.

Rasheed also talked to Chief Minister, Chief Secretary and other senior officials of the administration over phone and sought immediate package for the victims.
