Revealing that lifts installed in Lal Ded and JLNM Hospitals were of “second class” quality, Independent Lawmaker, Engineer Rasheed asked government to investigate the “scam” which resulted in to the death of an unborn baby in LD Hospital.

Raising the issue during Zero Hour in Lower House, Rasheed while referring to a news report in The Tribune, the Langate Lawmaker told the house that a pregnant lady was stuck in the lift of LD Hospital last Friday.

“She was on way to surgery ward but was stuck in lift for 45 minutes which resulted in death of the unborn baby,” he told the house.

He said that lifts have been installed by Jammu and Kashmir Projects Construction Corporation (JKPCC) Limited. Notable to mention, Er Sheikh Abdul Rasheed was working as Civil Engineer in JKPCC before becoming a Lawmaker from Langate.

“The lifts are of sub-standard quality,” he claimed, “constitute an expert committee and make Mechanical Unit of JKPCC answerable as where has money gone if it was meant to for lifts,” he asked the Speaker.

Meanwhile, Law Minister Ab Haq Khan told house that 73rd Amendment of Indian Constitution can’t be applied to J&K “because of the special position of state”.

“However, many provisions have been incorporated already in J&K Constitution,” he added. He was responding to BJP Lawmaker, Neelum Langeh.
