KL Report

SRINAGAR

Shortly after the Defence Ministry declined to share information on controversial Technical Support Division (TSD) set up by former Army chief General VK Singh, legislator and Chairman Awami Etihad Party, Engineer Rashid said that the decision of Government of India has vindicated his stand that Jammu and Kashmir politicians are funded by Indian Army.

Rashid told CNS that if TSD report was confidential and in the interest of nation as claimed by Defense Ministry then how come this report got leaked.

“It is clear now that Government of India wants to put this sensitive matter into cold storage. Jammu and Kashmir politicians might be feeling relaxed now as the Defense Ministry has decided not to disclose the information about controversial TSD under RTI Act,” he said.

He questioned that, “why Information on the activities of the controversial Technical Support Division (TSD), an intelligence unit set up by former army chief V K Singh, is still out of bounds for the public. Why the Defence Ministry has declined to share information related to functioning of TSD? It means there is something which the Government of India wants to hide,” Rashid said.

Pertinently, the Defense Ministry said in reply to an RTI query has claimed that in terms of Section 8 (1) (a) of the RTI Act, no information on TSD could be made to public as it would prejudicially affect the sovereignty and integrity of India.
