Former Director of Information Department Jammu and Kashmir, Abdur Rashid Shahid, passed away early Saturday morning. The deceased was a noted journalist and senior editor, who in his sixties continued to push his pen on news prints.
In their condolence messages, his colleagues described Shahid as a dedicated person with thorough professional outlook.
As an energetic elder in newsroom, he would always inspire young lots to remain upbeat.
“Abdur Rashid Shahid, one of the finest copy editors Kashmir produced, the man who even in his late sixties, working till 2am in the energy-packed news room of Greater Kashmir, made fledgling journalists feel like old men, a good teacher and hard task master, has breathed his last,” Mir Hilal, a senior journalist working with Delhi bureau of Hindustan Times, described him.
“May Allah bless his soul,” Hilal prayed for his departed soul.
