The Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs, Abdul Rahim Rather and the Minister of State for Technical Education, Vikar Rasool Friday inaugurated Rs 18. 58 cr State of Art Government Polytechnic College at Nagam in Budgam district. As per a government statement the Polytechnic College is first of its kind, out of 18 colleges, sanctioned by the union Ministry of Human Resources and Development (MHRD) for Jammu and Kashmir under Coordinated Skill Development Initiative and has been completed in a shortest span of 2 years.

The splendid and spacious College building is spread over plinth area of 32,000 the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah had laid foundation stone of this mega project in May, 2012. The construction work on other 17 sanctioned Polytechnic Colleges in the state is also going on in full swing.

Addressing the gathering at Nagam, after inaugurating the Polytechnic college complex, the Finance Minister reiterated Government’s resolve to provide all the modern educational facilities to the youth of the state to enable them excel in the open job market both at National and International levels. He thanked Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for gifting this institute to the people of Budgam district adding that it would go a long way in shaping destiny of the youth. He said in the present day fast developing economy and technology, the technical education has assumed tremendous importance and he was eager to provide this modern educational facility to the students at their doorsteps. “In fact establishment of a technical institute in his area was a long cherished dream of his life to provide technical education facilities to the students so that they could get job opportunities both in public and private sectors without any difficulties,” Rather added.
