Minister for CA&PD, Choudhary Zulfkar Ali said that ration is being supplied to the consumers as per Census -2011 with effect from September-2015, on basis of lists prepared, verified and authenticated by respective Deputy Commissioners.

The Minister said this while replying to a question by Saif-ud-Din Bhat in the Legislative Council today. The Minister said to rectify loopholes in Census-2011, a comprehensive survey has been conducted through DCs for inclusion of left-out families across the State. He added that to ensure that no families are left out the department has issued instructions to all Deputy Commissioners to include left out families as per Census -2011, if any.

The Minister said that presently opening of new sale outlets has been put on hold because of a proposal with the department for opening of more Ration Depots in uncovered areas of the State including hilly areas under New Initiative Policy.

The Minister also said that as of now there is no proposal with the department for sanctioning of additional funds for purchase of additional quota of ration, to cope up with scarcity of food grains caused due to continuous rains, hailstorms etc in hilly areas.

Zafar Manhas, Vibodh Gupta and Surinder Kumar Choudhary raised supplementaries to the main question.

Replying to another question by Ashok Khajuria, the Minister said that the department was issuing ration as per projected population of year 2000 and the ration cards were issued on basis of Census-2001. The Minister added now, a comprehensive survey has been conducted through DCs of inclusion of left out families across the State for providing ration as per Census -2011 and ration cards will also be provided as per Census -2011 shortly.

The Minister said in Jammu ration is being distributed amongst legitimate rationees as per Census-2011 w.e.f September-2015.
