While questioning the LG-led administration on unending scams in JK, Beg said that the scams in government recruitments emerge every year, especially the Fire & Emergency Services Department recruitment scam, which is forcing the aspirants to hit the streets every now and then.

Taking a dig at LG Administration, Mehboob Beg hinted that the lack of accountability and proper action against those found guilty in previous recruitment scams has forced the youth to come out and protest.

“Aspirants are protesting against another possible scam in the recruitment drive of Fire and Emergency Services Department. Earlier, a committee was formed to probe these allegations, but the report submitted by this committee is not being made public”, Beg said.

Given the overall scenario of joblessness, Beg added, “Many states like Andhra Pradesh, Haryana and Himacal Pradesh have measures in place for ensuring jobs produced within these states are taken up by the locals only, however, in J&K the administration is opening up the jobs for everyone. This is done at a time when J&K has one of the highest unemployment rates in the Country”.

While referring to the administration’s policy of power curtailment, Beg said, “J&K has abundant water resources for sufficiently producing electricity not only for residents of J&K but can feed other states as well.  The government of India after promising to hand over hydroelectric projects back to the people of J&K is only turning a deaf ear to people’s suffering.”

“Unfortunately, the curtailment is not confined to electricity only, even the subsidized rations are not being provided to people of Jammu & Kashmir,” he added.

” Day-to-day concerns of the people in general and youth in particular, is of prime importance for our party. We will keep highlighting every issue and work for the betterment of people, ” he said, adding that LG administration should wake up from its deep slumber and look for the immediate redressal of all the issues highlighted in the interest of the public.”

Beg on the occasion was flanked by additional spokespersons Mohit Bhan and Najmu Saqib at the  PDP Headquarters in Srinagar.
