Members of International Committee of the Red Cross called on the Director General of Police, Prisons S.K. Mishra, at his office on Thursday.
As per statement issued by prisons department, the members discussed their previous visits to the prisons and made some recommendations to improve the living conditions of the inmates which they had also put forward in their reports.
The DGP informed them about the latest initiatives of the Prisons Department viz.-a-viz. trainings and infrastructure development, the statement added.
“He said the Prisons Department is making every effort to provide basic amenities to the inmates.”
DGP appreciated the role of ICRC in improving conditions of detention and presented a memento to the team leader Michael John Cornell and Felko Bergmann, Interpreter of ICRC. The meeting was also attended by the DIG Prisons Dr. M.S. Lone.
