One more militant was killed in a gunfight with the government forces at Redwani area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Tuesday.

The gunfight broke out in the wee hours after army’s 1 Rashtriya Rifles, special operations group of Jammu and Kashmir police and Central Reserve Police Force launched a joint cordon-and-search operation in Redwani bala in Kulgam.

A senior police official confirmed the killing of two militants and an army soldier.

He identified slain army soldier as Prakash Yadav, adding that the identity of the slain militant is yet to be ascertained.

“The operation was launched following specific inputs about the presence of some militants in the area,” he said.

Meanwhile, two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) men were injured after unknown men hurled grenade on CRPF personnel deployed on outer cordon.they were rushed to the hospital for treatment.

The two injured CRPF personnel have been identified as sub-inspector Amit Kumar and Constable Avnish.
