Pakistan Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar has called upon India to exercise restraint and stop killing innocent Kashmiris in Kashmir.

Addressing the meeting of OIC Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir in Cairo‚ she said those responsible for such crimes should be brought to justice. India must also take steps for early release of political prisoners and repeal the draconian laws.

She said Pakistan has entered into dialogue with India in good faith to amicably resolve the Kashmir dispute. “We are earnestly implementing the Cross-LoC confidence building measures to bring relief to the divided families and reduce the sufferings of the Kashmiris on both sides of the LoC,” Khar said.

She said resolution of Kashmir dispute is imperative for peace and stability to South Asia and end the sufferings of the Kashmiri people.

The Pakistan foreign Minister said Pakistan is committed to finding a just and peaceful resolution of the dispute in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions and aspirations of the Kashmiri people. “Kashmiris should be associated with the dialogue process. We hope that the Government of India would reciprocate Pakistan’s principled approach and initiate appropriate measures for an early resolution of Jammu and Kashmir dispute,” she said.

Pointing towards the recent tension at the LoC‚ Hina Rabbani Khar said, “we are ready to work with United Nations Military Observer Group for India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) to carry out an independent inquiry into the ceasefire violations. We would also welcome an OIC fact finding mission to investigate the recent incidents of ceasefire violations along the LoC.”
