Sagar 30  Jan - CopyThe Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj System, Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar dedicated the reconstructed and renovated Dastigeer Sahib Shrine Thursday in presence of Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Vice Chairman, J&K Waqf Board and Sajadah Niasheen Dastigeer Sahib Shrine Khanyar and other senior officers of District Administration.

The reconstruction work of the Dastigeer Sahib Shrine is being carried out at Rs. 10 crore out of which Rs. 6 crore have already been expanded while rest of Rs. 4 crore are being spent on strengthening the infrastructure and beautification of the Shrine.

It is pertinent to mention that the Shrine was damaged in a fire incident in November 2012 which prompted the Government to assign the project to the Jammu and Kashmir Project Construction Corporation.

On this occasion, Mr. Sagar said that the reconstruction work of the Shrine was completed in a record 14 months. He appreciated the executing agency and people for speedy execution of the project whose joint efforts ensured timely completion of the Shrine. He paid obeisance at the Shrine and prayed for lasting peace, progress and prosperity of the State. He said that the glory of Shrine has been restored as per the public expectations and keeping in view the heritage aspect of the Shrine.

Mr. Sagar reviewed ongoing works in the Shrine on this occasion. He urged the Shrine management to provide every facility to the devotees during the Urs period which is commencing from January 31, 2014.

A large number of devotees were also present on the occasion.
