SRINAGAR: Renowned broadcaster and public speaker, Syed Muzaffar Kashani has passed away after few days of hospitalisation. He was 78.
As per the family sources, Kashani had developed sudden health complications on December 27 in Delhi after offering Friday prayers in local mosque. He was immediately taken to the nearby hospital in Noida and was later shifted to another hospital for specialised treatment. However, his condition did not improve.
Subsequently, as per his wish, he was brought back to Srinagar where he passed away today at around 11 AM. A native of old city in Gojwara, currently residing at Gulberg Colony Hyderpora, Kashani was an eminent broadcaster, renowned gemologist, writer, public speaker and philanthropist.
He served All India Radio in different capacities. As per the family sources, funeral prayers shall be held at 5 PM on the lawns of the revered shrine of Naqshband sb (RA) in Khwaja Bazar and later body shall be taken for burial to his ancestral graveyard in Nowhatta near the Ziyarat Hazrat Sheikh Baha-Ud-Din Ganj Baksh (RA).
He is survived by his wife, four daughters and a son. His son, Sarwar Kashani is a senior journalist based in Delhi and currently working as Editorial Coordinator of leading Spanish News agency EFE.
Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah and Vice President and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah have expressed profound grief over the demise of popular news reader in Radio Kashmir Srinagar and father of journalist Sarwar Kashani, Syed Muzaffar Hussain Kashani, who passed away in New Delhi after brief illness.
The duo, reflecting on his significant contributions to the field of broadcasting, paid heartfelt tributes to him. They prayed for peace to his soul in the highest realms of Jannat and for strength to be granted to his bereaved family during this difficult time.
Among others Speaker Assembly Abdur Rahim Rather, party General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, AGS Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, Advisor to CM Nasir Aslam Wani, Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq, Sharief Ud Din Shariq, Muhammad Shafi Uri, Mir GM Saqi have also extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved household.
