Renowned literary figure Hajji Surga Begum w/o Late Hajji Abdul Ganai, resident of Nowabad Chakka Bhaderwah Doda district passed away at the age of 77 after a prolonged illness.

Begum was a well known in the literary circles as a good teacher and scholarly figure whose services as a teacher can never be forgotten. She was proficient in English, Urdu, Persian and Kashmiri as well. She had two sons Shabir Ahmed Faridy and Farooq Ahmed Faridy who are also well known persons in Bhaderwah.

Meanwhile PDP general secretary Sheikh Mehbob Iqbal has condoled the demise of Surga Begum and described her as a learned scholar of her times.

In his condolence message, Sheikh Mehboob Iqbal recalled the contribution made by late Surga Begum to the Bhaderwah during his long stint in education sector. He said she was a torchbearer of knowledge.

Many other leaders and organisations also condole the sad demise of Surga Begum .
