The joint resistance leadership (JRL) on Monday issued a new protest calendar, calling for shutdown on Feb 9 and 11 to commemorate the anniversaries of execution of Afzal Guru and Maqbool Bhat respectively.
They have also called for shutdown on February 3 to protest against the death sentence awarded to a Kulgam man Muzaffar Ahmad Rather and observe the same day as Youme-e-Muzahamat on Feb 3.
“After Friday prayers peaceful protests will be held throughout valley for solidarity with death sentence victim Muzaffar Ahmad Rather (Kulgam) and others,” said a statement.
Complete shutdown will be observed throughout the valley and people will demand for the mortal remains of Shaheed Mohammad Afzal Guru on February 9.
