SRINAGAR: Member of Parliament from Srinagar constituency, Aga Ruhullah Mehdi, on Wednesday s that the government led by Omar Abdullah has fulfilled its promise by moving the resolution on special status on the first day of business in the Jammu Kashmir Legislative Assembly.
Speaking to reporters, Ruhullah, who attended Assembly proceedings, expressed gratitude to Omar Abdullah and the government for passing the resolution on special status for Jammu and Kashmir. “However, the fight doesn’t end here; today only the doors have been opened through the Assembly,” he remarked.
Ruhullah added that a majority of the members supported the resolution, emphasising that the BJP should refrain from lecturing the government on the role of the Speaker. “We have seen how the Speaker treats us in Parliament,” he noted.
The MP further said that he does not recognise the Lieutenant Governor’s office, saying it “has no meaning in a democracy.” (KNO)
