Srinagar

Authorities on Friday have sealed all the roads leading to Shopian district of south Kashmir, ahead of the call given Joint Resistance Leadership.

Reports said that all the lanes leading to Jamia masjid Shopian have been sealed by barricades and concertina wires.

As per the protest call by JRL, JKLF Chief Mohammad Yasin Malik has also reached to Jamia Masjid Shopian to lead a peaceful protest against the civilian killings in Shopian.

According to a spokesman, Malik is scheduled to “lead a peaceful protest against gruesome killings by government forces in the area.”

The Jammu and Kashmir police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel have been deployed in large numbers to maintain law and order in sensitive areas in the area.

Meanwhile, in response to ‘Shopian Chalo’ call given by Joint Resistance leadership, authorities have also suspended the train services in Kashmir.

According to an order issued by railway authorities, “all train services will remain suspended from Banihal to Baramulla on February 2, 2018, for security reasons following advisory from police”.
