Sensing trouble again in some parts of the old city, District Magistrate Srinagar announced imposition of restrictions in the areas coming under Zadibal and Nowhatta on Sunday.

“In view of law and order situation and to avoid breach of peace and tranquility besides damage to life and property, restrictions have been imposed under Section 144 Cr. PC on the movement of public and transport in the jurisdiction of police station, Zadibal and Nowhatta with effect from 0600 hours on December 02, 2012 till further order, “a statement issued by government spokesman said.

Authorities had to re impose restrictions in the interior areas of Hawal and Sazgaripora after minor stone pelting on Saturday but with the overall situation returning to normal, curfew was lifted on the third day after the trouble started on Wednesday.

Police sources said that some youth started pelting stones in the interior areas between Sazgaripora, Masheal Mohalla and Hawal resulting in injuries to at least one person.

“Heavy deployment was put in place and movement of the people made restricted in the said interiors but no curfew is in place,” sources added.

Police spokesman said curfew shall remain imposed from Sunday morning in areas falling under jurisdiction of police stations Zadibal, Nowhatta and police post Urdu Bazaar.
